Croatian should soon obtain a new telecommunication company that would offer broadband, high-speed, cheap Internet access to people all over the country.
The Croatian government is expected to make a decision on the establishment of that new telecom company at its session on Thursday, the web portal Poslovni.hr reports.
In this way, the country would bring order to infrastructure management and additionally liberalize the Internet market, which is why it is believed that the proposal will get the green light.
The new company would take on the responsibility to manage a free optical network of state-owned companies such as Hrvatske Autoceste (Croatian Highways), Hrvatske Zeljeznice (Croatian Railways), HEP, Plinacra, Janafa, Autocesta Rijeka-Zagreb.
Instead of being an operator, the new telecom firm would be renting the network to all companies under equal terms.
