EU gives EUR 1.5 million for railway hub project in Nis

A protocol for a project involving the relocation of railway infrastructure from the central city zone and the construction of a bypass was signed Tuesday in the Nis City Hall, it was announced on the website of the City of Nis - www.ni.rs.

This document was signed by Nis Mayor Zoran Perisic and Transportation Minister Milutin Mrkonjic in the presence of Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert.

The European Union has provided EUR 1.5 million for the preparation of necessary documentation.

- A tender for the contractor should be announced in spring 2013, and the work could start as early as June next year - Blic cited Vincent Degert as saying.

Minister Milutin Mrkonjic stressed that that was one of the most important projects on Corridor X railway route.
