World's most expensive cheese made from donkeys' milk in Zasavica costs EUR 1,000 per kilogram

The special nature reserve Zasavica near Sremska Mitrovica has promoted a special type of cheese - donkey cheese, known as pule, that costs EUR 1,000 a kilogram.
Slobodan Simic, the manager of this nature reserve, told the press that the cheese making procedure was very complicated, which was the reason for the price being so high.
Simic explained that it was the world's most expensive cheese because there was only one donkey farm in the world bigger than the one in Zasavica, and that farm was not engaged in cheese production.
According to him, donkeys' milk is very similar to human milk because it contains one percent of fat, so it can also be drunk by small children.
- This is an authentic brand of Serbia and Vojvodina. That's why I believe that our government officials should join its promotion because our cheese would be an excellent gift to foreign officials - said Simic.
