Canada's Lavalin opens regional office in Belgrade

The Canadian engineering and construction company SNC-Lavalin International officially opened its regional office at Sava Business Center in Belgrade, Serbia on December 4th.
This office will be run by SNC-Lavalin International Vice President for Business Development Evgeni Shevchenko, who will be responsible for the territory of central, east and southeast Europe, the Embassy of Canada to Serbia said in a statement.
SNC Lavalin is the largest engineering and construction company in Canada and one of the world's leading providers of services in the fields of engineering, procurement, construction, project management and project finance in various industries.
Since 2010, this company has been working together with Mining-Smelter Basin (RTB) Bor on the reconstruction of the latter's smelter and the construction of a new sulfuric acid plant in the Bor basin. This project, worth over CAD 200 million, is mainly financed with the proceeds of a loan approved by the Canadian state export financing agency EDC, reads the statement.
People at the Canadian embassy also say that this growing trading and investment interest of Canadian companies in Serbia and increasingly strong economic relationships between the two countries have recently led to the signing of the Agreement on Strategic Economic Cooperation between the Serbian government and the Canadian Commercial Corporation.
