Serbian Railways will most probably purchase 25 new electric trains from the Swiss company Stadler.
The procurement of new trains will be financed with the proceeds of a EUR 100 million loan approved earlier by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
This month Serbian Railways completed the second phase of its tender for the supply of new electric trains for the regional passenger transport, and Stadler was the only bidder to submit a commercial offer, the Railways' magazine Pruga reported.
In the first phase of the tender, technical bids were submitted by companies Alstom and Siemens.
The price of new trains also includes the delivery of equipment, spare parts, special tools, training...
The deadline to deliver the first train is a year and a half of the date of the agreement signing, whereas the last train is to be delivered within 130 weeks of that date.
