Ikea has not given up its investment in Serbia, although it has difficulties to commence construction due to complicated and confusing administrative procedures, people at that company told Beta news agency on Tuesday.

Ikea Serbia PR Manager Milena Vujicic noted that that company had been ready for over a year to start implementing its investment, but that it could not do anything until all the required permits were issued.

- Our plan to invest in Ikea department stores in Serbia has not changed. Ikea primarily wants to open the first department store in Belgrade, while our long-term plans include the opening of another four facilities in other parts of Serbia - said Ms. Vujicic.

She stressed that Ikea had clear plans for markets in southeast Europe, adding that they had always included the opening of department stores in Croatia, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.
