(BC Bilten) Why Japanese prisoners change color of their uniforms?

In order to enhance interpersonal relationships between the prisoners and put them in the good mood, Japanese officials made the decision on change of colors of prison uniforms. The experts found out that bright orange color or traditional "prison stripes" makes prisoners aggressive and nervous. Psychologists say that warmer colors could do good to the prisoners. Green and blue colors of the uniforms would contribute to the creation of positive atmosphere. Japan took this step in order to enhance the image some State prisons created few years ago after the revealing of the affair related to the molesting of prisoners in Nagoya by the prison guards.
