Greeks and Americans prepared joint project for the Balkans - investment of 1.3 - 3 billion EUR in improvement of power transfer system

Last week, the London "Financial times" published the news that the Americans, with the help of Greeks, are ready to invest i the construction of the unique electricity market in the Balkans, which is a good bait for numerous investors with its 55 million citizens. The projects have already been elaborated and, in the first phase, the money should be directed to the improvement of the existing systems for transfer of electricity between Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
By the way, the agreement on EU support to creation of the unique energy market in the Balkans has already beend signed!
The construction of new power plants should commence in the second phase, but the Americans and Greeks are ready to buy existing steam and hydroelectric power plants in the privatization process.
Branko Terzić, expert for global energy in company "Deloitte and Touche" explained the story and named the partners: company PPS from Greece and "Kentur Global" from USA. He also confirmed that both companies were preparing joint energy investment project in the Balkans, the value of which ranged between 1.3 and 3 billion EUR.
Terzić is of the opinion that Serbia should be the primary location for construction of new power plants with existing or new technology.
