Town Hall Zemun has signed the contract with Consortium Ekozem on rental of part of Big War Island. Ekozem will invest €25m in this project within next 4 years and the works will start as soon as Republic Directorate for Property has given agreement.
It is planned that the manege for the horse-riding school be constructed, as well as aqua land, golf courts, marina, beach volleyball fields and ethno-hotel. The renter will be obliged to pay rent of €6,000 to company Poslovni Prostor Zemun during the whole year.
According to the contract, the facilities will be prefabricated and the manifestations must not endanger island as natural good.
The first thing to do will be the cleaning of the canal that connects Lido and the rest of the island. It will be followed by construction of coast supports, piers, as well as – bridge 12 m wide on barges, which will not cut the navigation road. That pass will be in use 12 months a year.
On the right bank of the Danube 2 parking lots with 1,200 places will be built. These lots will be surrounded by urban green and flowers. Marina will be built until 2007, as well as horse-riding school opened.
Ekozem Consortium is made of 10 companies and individuals, but that does not end the list of partners, because anyone who invest €10 in Lido will become minor partner.
By the way, the suggestion made by mayor Nenad Bogdanović concerning allotment of management of Big War Island as protected natural good to the Public Utility Company Zelenilo Beograd was adopted at the meeting of the City Parliament. The mayor said that the decision did not prevent Town Hall Zemun from signing the contract on rental of island in compliance with the laws, although he was worried thinking about the things that can be built with €25m.
