Serbian Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic stated Monday that the company Al Dahra from the United Arab Emirates would be offered a strategic partnership with the Agricultural Corporation Beograd (PKB) and the combine Dragan Markovic from Obrenovac.

- We will also offer that company from the UAE to rent 16,000 hectares of state-owned land, but it will be obligated to invest in the construction of a network of irrigation canals in Serbia, to build a cargo terminal at the Belgrade airport and to modernize one of the ports on the Danube - Dinkic told the press in Senta.

He added that the strategic partnership between PKB and Al Dahra would be discussed with Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas.

Dinkic stressed that the farmers' request for not leasing state-owned land to foreign investors had been accepted.

He announced that local farmers would be immediately offered to rent state-owned land, noting that the starting price at auctions would amount to EUR 250 per hectare.
