MIHAJLOVIC: Investigation into all electricity procurement processes since 2000

Serbian Minister of Energy, Development and Environment Protection Zorana Mihajlovic has requested an investigation into all electricity purchases in Serbia since 2000.

- People at the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) deliberately made poor plans for the import of electricity in order to allow for emergency imports and the purchase of electricity at much higher prices - Zorana Mihajlovic told Press on Saturday.

According to her words, a team designated by the Ministry is examining the papers of the Environment Protection Fund, Energy Efficiency Agency, Srbijagas, Transnafta, EPS and Elektromreza.

- One of the institutions we have especially been probing into is the Environment Protection Fund, which had about RSD 5 billion at its disposal before elections. In the period between elections and the formation of the new government, the Fund signed about 72 agreements and incurred expenses exceeding RSD 2.5 billion - said Zorana Mihajlovic.
