UAE to buy arms from Serbia?

A delegation of the Serbian government, led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic, met Thursday in Abu Dhabi with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan.

They discussed cooperation in the area of defense and the advancement of economic relations between the two states.

Members of delegations also contemplated the possibility of selling Serbian weapons to the UAE, as well as joint projects aimed at developing and producing missile systems and supersonic training aircraft.

Vucic invited Sheikh Mohammed to visit Serbia, which he accepted and announced his visit in early January next year.

During the talks, Dinkic laid out a proposal for joint investment in the field of agriculture and agro-industry, placing a special accent on the introduction of large irrigation systems on the territory of Serbia.

The minister underlined that Serbia had a good investment environment for investors from the United Arab Emirates.

The United Arab Emirates is the richest Arab country today after Qatar, with one of the highest GDPs in the world.

The foreign policy of the United Arab Emirates and development of relations and cooperation in foreign affairs are directly linked with the country’s economic policy and development of trade relations, reads a statement by the Serbian government.
