Belgrade Waterworks is getting GIS – digital network map, 550.000 EUR, donation of France

To improve waterworks system of Belgrade, or rather to lower water shortages, to improve quality of services, to save energy and preserve environment, Public Utility Company Waterworks and Sewerage in cooperation with experts started to elaborate on project GIS (Geographical Information System). It will enable introduction of digital network map of waterworks and sewerage of Belgrade with which information will be gathered and damages will be detected without field inspection.

During May 2005 elaboration on the project for the first zone will start (east part of community Savski Venac, right bank of Sava), which includes around 50% of water supply system in Belgrade and is the object of the first project task. French government gave a donation of 550.000 EUR for financing the improvement of waterworks and sewerage system, and in cooperation with SCE Company our experts are working on that project.
