Skopje to start construction of tram network in 2013 - Project worth EUR 150 million

Following the example of all other metropolises around the world, the capital of Macedonia will get a tram network. As Skopje Mayor Koce Trajanovski announced, tender documentation is already completed, and the City of Skopje should launch a competition for the contract during this month. It is expected that a concessionaire will be selected by the year's end.
The company chosen will be obligated to build infrastructure in the city and procure tram cars. Trajanovski also stated that there were already some interested companies, adding that meetings had been held with several firms, with the aim of presenting competition terms to them.
The whole project should cost about EUR 150 million, and the construction is expected to take two or three years to complete.
