Lafarge celebrates 1st decade of operations in Serbia

Lafarge has celebrated a decade of successful operations in Serbia, during which it invested over EUR 100 million in the modernization of cement factory in Beocin.

Lafarge's materials are built in the most significant capital buildings in Serbia, such as the Beska Bridge, Ada Bridge, Avala Tower and many residential and business facilities, the company announced Friday.

On that occasion, Lafarge Serbia CEO Costin Borc said that the company was happy with the opportunity to be a part of the Serbian architectural and construction history.

"We have managed to build a stable, contemporary and strong company, the leading supplier to the construction industry in Serbia and a driving force of regional economic development," Borc assessed.

He stressed that cooperation between Lafarge and the local community in Beocin had been excellent, voicing his expectation that that company would achieve even better results in the years to come than in the previous decade.

- Our operations enable the employment of expert manpower, thus contributing to the local economy through taxes and fees, as well as through both engagement of local contractors and joint projects with the local community - Borc added.

Lafarge's cement factory in Beocin is the oldest industrial plant in the Balkans, founded in 1839, which in 2001 joined the Lafarge Group, the global leader in the production of building materials.
