New York City cafe sells only water

Some say a new watering hole, recently opened in New York City’s East Village, has tapped into a niche market, others argue it is rinsing customers of their cash.

The only drink patrons will be sipping on is filtered tap water - costing $2.50 a bottle.

Using a $25,000 filtering machine, Molecule Water Café claims to filter H20 to its purest form before selling it to customers, the Daily Mail reports.

A seven-part process, the machine uses UV rays, ozone treatments and reverse osmosis to transform tap water into ‘pure H20.’

‘The water tastes pure…it’s light, it’s fluffy, it’s sweet,’ co-owner Adam Ruhf enthused to the Wall Street Journal.

Unsurprisingly, there are skeptics who believe the water café is a swindle and tout New York City’s tap water as among the highest quality in the world.

32-year-old Ruhf strongly disagrees describing the city’s water as ‘terrible’ and arguing that he doesn`t want chemicals, such as chlorine, in his water.

For customers in search of something more exciting, there is an extensive list of vitamins and supplements to create a water cocktail.

There are different supplement combinations for an energy or immunity boost, as well as one to improve hair, skin and nails.

Suggested combinations of vitamins and supplements include names such as `Fountain of Youth` and `Glamour Shot`. One serving costs $2, a glass bottle is $2.50 and a gallon costs $3.
