Meeting place of leading construction and architectural companies - International Construction Trade Fair BAU in Munich from January 14 to 19, 2013

The world's leading construction and architectural trade fair BAU 2013 in Munich will be held between January 14 and 19, 2013 under the slogan "The Future of Building". It will gather over 2,000 exhibitors from all around the world.

- All those who have something to show in the domain of architecture and building are coming to BAU 2013. There will be exhibitors from 46 countries. Last time, at BAU 2011, foreign exhibitors accounted for 26 percent of all exhibitors, which was the new record - Markus Sporer, representative of BAU 2013, said at a press conference.

Only one company from Serbia will participate in BAU 2013. It is Pancevo-based Alubond.

At this trade fair, architecture, materials and systems for business and residential construction and interior in new and old buildings will be presented on 180,000 square meters of exhibition space.

A great interest of exhibitors is also confirmed by the fact that there is a waiting list for participation in the construction and architectural trade fair in Munich, which now includes about 400 firms.

BAU 2011 attracted about 240,000 people from all around the world, thus setting a record in the number of visitors. That year, the Munich trade fair had 470 visitors from Serbia, and organizers expect that there will be even more of them next year.

- Ever since the BAU trade fair in Munich was held for the first time in 1946, the number of visitors and exhibitors has been growing constantly, and we expect a new record to be set at the forthcoming trade fair in 2013. The trade fair that we organize every second years attracts the world's elite representing all famous brands in the fields of construction and architecture - said Sporer.

The number of visitors from abroad grew 61 percent at the previous BAU, so that nearly 60,000 out of the total of 240,000 guests were foreigners.

- Most foreign visitors came from neighboring countries Austria, Switzerland and Italy, followed by Turkey. There are also about 8,500 people coming from non-European countries. What is noticeable is an increase in the number of exhibitors from Greece, Portugal and Spain because their crisis-hit construction companies are trying hard to enter foreign markets – Sporer pointed out.

The representative of BAU 2013 stressed that the percentage of architects in the total number of trade fair visitors had doubled since 2005.

- No other trade fair in the world gathers as many architects and engineers as the Munich trade fair. BAU 2011 was visited by 50,000 architects - said Sporer.

Main topics at the trade fair in 2013 will be sustainable construction, integenerational construction, energy-efficient building, as well as development of cities in the 21st century.

It is also worth mentioning that Archi-World Academy (www.awacademy.org), the largest worldwide contest for the architects of tomorrow, is organized in cooperation with BAU 2013. Students of architecture and young architects from all around the world are invited to submit their energy saving solutions until October 30th if they want to compete for the awards.
