Citizens of Serbia will be able to choose from whom they will buy electricity in three years

According to present estimates, citizens of Serbia will be able to choose from whom they will be electricity in three years.

During 2005, Serbia obliged to cancel monopoly of the Electric Power Company of Serbia and to create conditions for arrival of new power companies to the market of Serbia.

Nenad Savić from company "EFT", which is the big electricity supplier in southeast Europe, says that EPS will first raise the price of the electricity in the following years, until it reaches real level. Then, following the arrival of private electricity suppliers, the price will fall and new services will be launched.

According to earlier estimates, private electricity suppliers were supposed to to appear on the market of Serbia in year and half, but the experts estimate that that will happen much later. Because, two years ago, Serbia adopted the new Law on Energy, but some sublegal acts, which would accelerate creation of electricity market, are missing.
