Cross-border industrial park - Tender for Serbia - Hungary business zone preliminary design released

Within the cooperation between chambers of commerce in Szeged and Subotica, i.e. of North Backa region and Csongrad County, talks on the formation of cross-border industrial park that would enable more favorable business conditions for SMEs, have started, as reported by GradSubotica.co.rs portal.

In Subotica representatives of the Regional Chamber of Commerce, from the Hungarian-Serbian trade and industrial chamber from Csongrad and Szeged have discussed project originated from positive experience Hungary already has been through before it joined the European Union. Then, the Hungarian-Austrian border zone in the St. Gothard, an industrial park as an important support to entrepreneurship on both sides of the border with significant impact on the entrepreneurship revival was formed.

Tender has already been released for a design i.e. a study of the future park between Serbia and Hungary. EU funds will provide financial assets for the project implementation. The project should be completed within one year. According to initial plans, the industrial park in Subotica, would be situated within Free Zone in Mali Bajmok, and on the Hungarian side in the border zone at Tompa. One of the reasons for this thinking is that both Serbian and Hungarian SMEs are facing similar problems so more favorable business conditions in this area could encourage their development, it has been considered in the Hungarian-Serbian Chamber of Trade and Industry in Szeged.
