Petroleum unit of company NIS "Naftagas" - "Nacional 2" - to start drilling on Tunisian coast at end of September

Executive manager of NIS "Naftagas", Igor Korać, announced that "Naftagas's" unit "Nacional 2" would start drilling at the end of September 2006, from the base leaned against the sea bottom on Tunisian coast.

The works in Tunis, on the oil field "El Bidan", for the needs of company "Alstair project limited", NIS "Naftagas" carries out on the basis of the contract on business cooperation with Croatian company "Kroso naftni servis" from Zagreb.

Unit "Nacional 2" was overhauled in Zrenjanin and it is capable of drilling under the sea at the depth of up to 7,000 m, from the base that is leaned against the sea bottom and such method is applied for the first time in company "Naftagas".

The Chairman of the Administrative Board of NIS, Željko Popović, estimated that that unit was another proof that NIS had personnel and technology for the world standards. He said that that investment was the part of the development concept, according to which NIS, on the basis of concession, wanted to provide 50% of oil from abroad for refining in its refineries.
