The vehicles from the territory of Serbia will bear the old sign of the former State union "SCG" for another month, because the new license plates with the sign of the new country are being prepared.
According to the announcement of the assistant to the Minister of Capital INvestments, Branimir Ujdur, the new sign that will make our vehicles recognizable will consist of the first two letters from the name of the new country, i.e. "SR", on the top of which the free space will be left for subsequent putting of "EU" sign.
– I have recently been visited by the officials of the Ministry of INternal Affairs and asked for my opinion about the offered variants of the new license plates. Since the Ministry of Internal Affairs has its districts in Serbia, they will determine the letters on the license plates, so that the place can be recognizable at once. In addition to letters and numbers, the new license plates will have the sign of Serbia on the left side and the free space on the blue surface reserved for "EU" flag, when the time comes – Ujdur explains.
The definite decision about all this can be expected in about 30 days, although there is no strict deadline. Ujdur says that there is an option that the tickets with the registration expiration date be given on the occasion of the registration of vehicles. These tickets would be sticked to the glass, like everywhere in Europe, so that a policeman would not have to ask for the documents in order to see whether the registration expired.
