The Serbian national railway company Serbian Railways and the Italian consortium JV Italiana Construzioni - Consorzio Armatori Ferroviari Italy signed July 2nd in Belgrade an agreement to carry out construction works on a new double-track railroad from the stop Gilje to the station in Paracin, for the speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
This 10.5-kilometer section is an important part of the railway route of Corridor X, and the job is given to the bidder who has submitted the most favorable bid, asking the price of EUR 16.2 million, Serbian Railways CEO Milovan Markovic told Tanjug news agency after signing the agreement.
Markovic said that the period to complete that new double-track railroad was set at 415 days.
The Italian consortium has submitted the most favorable bid on an international tender, which attracted 15 bids from 10 European countries, including those submitted by domestic companies.
Funds for this project have been provided from a loan of the European Investment Bank.
