Gorenje moves production from Sweden to Velenje

Gorenje has announced that it will move its entire production of washing machines, tumble dryers and dish washers from Sweden-based Asko factory to Velenje.

In that way, the Swedish factory will be left with only 50 out of current 500 employees. Remaining workers will be doing development, Asko brand management and marketing jobs.

Relocation is in the pipeline for the next year, and it should be carried out in two steps. The production of washing machines and tumble dryers in Sweden will be halted first, and then the production of dish washers will be discontinued on June 30th.

Production in Velenje should start in April and September, respectively. A final decision will be made by the Managing Board of Ask in about ten days.
