Construction of "Metro" in Novi Sad has begun - the value of the complex, which would hire 230 people, is around 15 millions EUR


The President of the Management Board of "Metro" company for South Eastern Europe, Damir Firsht and the Mayor of Novi Sad, Maja Gojkovic have placed today (June, 23rd, 2006) the ground stone for this new distributive center of this German company, which is fourth in Serbia.
"Metro cash and carry" in Novi Sad will be similar to the two centers in Belgrade (Zemun and Krnjaca) and in Kragujevac, that is close to 547 of typical examples of Metro in 28 countries across the world.
- We are coming to Novi Sad as partners, to the city as well as to the customers. We have chosen Novi Sad, as it is in second place by economic power in Serbia and represents a large investment potential - said Firsht.
He added that this distributive center, which lies on 40.300 square meters in total, would cost 15 millions EUR and would hire 230 people.
The sales area would be on 9.800 m2, where would be offered around 25.000 articles, and concerning the food products 70% would be domestic. It is also planned to be built a warehouse with 7 ramps and parking lot for 468 vehicles.
The works on the object in Industrial zone, near "Novkabel", should be ended during the Fall of 2006.
