Recent settlement of 20 beavers from Bavaria on territory of Obedska Bara marsh was the start of the realization of the second part of the project ``Reintroduction of European Beaver to Serbia``. European beaver was an autochthonous species of domestic fauna, widely spread through Europe and Serbia, until the beginning of the 20th century, when it disappeared due to hunting and destruction of their lairs. The first phase of reintroduction was carried out on this territory in December 2004, when 20 beavers were brought to this area, but 4 of them already died. ``Reintroduction of European Beaver to Serbia`` is also conducted in the special natural reservation ``Zasavica`` where 30 beavers live. Realization of the project was enabled by Ministry of Science and Environment Protection and Faculty of Biology in Belgrade, in cooperation with Bavarian organization ``Bund Naturshutz``. (Pregled)
