Almost all employees of the company Cablex, which has been operating in the village of Platicevo near Ruma for a year, are women. As things stand now, that trend is going to continue. Namely, the Slovenian manufacturer of cable sets for household appliances plans to expand its production in that municipality in Srem. Cablex currently operates in a rented space where it employs 32 people. However, as the volume of production is growing, the plan is to build a new production plant and hire new workers.
- We now have some 650 square meters of space at our disposal, which is not enough. Therefore, we plan to build a new production facility that will span about 2,000 square meters - Cablex CEO Zlatko Jutic says to eKapija.
- Construction of the new plant should commence this year, and we plan to invest between 700,000 and 800,000 euros in its construction and equipping. It is a greenfield investment. Our tendency is to keep the existing plant in operation and to build a new one on the land behind it.
According to Jutic, after opening that new plant, the company should employ between 150 and 200 people, mainly women.
- About 90% of Cablex's employees are women, and we intend to keep it that way once the new plant is opened. Women in Serbia are mainly unemployed, which is one of the reasons why we at Cablex decided to hire female workers. Also, this job suits women. We hope that the new production plant will enable us to employ a large number of unemployed women from the villages in the municipality of Ruma, such as Platicevo, Vitojevac, Brestac, Hrtkovci.
The existing production plant of this Slovenian company was opened in Ruma in March 2011. Although it currently produces cable sets only for washing machines and refrigerators, the plan for the future is to start the production of cables for all household appliances at that plant.
Cablex has not found buyers in Serbia yet, but it already exports products to Turkey and Russia.
- Our main buyer at the moment is Turkey's Beko, for which we also deliver goods to the Russian market. Besides, we've also exported our products directly to Turkey. We don't have a buyer in Serbia yet, but we are using domestic semi-finished products, which is why Novokabel from Novi Sad is one of our key suppliers.
According to Jutic, the company plans to start exports to other countries and to strengthen its position in Serbia.
- At the level of the group, our buyers are some of the leading manufacturers of household appliances, such as Candy, Bosch, Electrolux.
In addition to the plant in Ruma, Cablex also operates factories in Germany, Poland, Republic of Srpska, Turkey, China and three factories in Slovenia. The company exists for 22 years and employs over 1,000 people at the level of the group.
