Bee keepers from territory of Smederevska Palanka obtained 400 new beehives

Bee-keeping collective "Jasenica" in Smederevska Palanka has been delivered 400 beehives, through the project of the American Agency for International DEvelopment (USAID), in scope of programme "Community Revitalization through Democratic Action" (CRDA).

The value of the donation is about 34,600 USD, 30,500 of which were provided by USAID, while Bee-keeping collective "Jasenica" took part in the investment with about 4,600 USD.

The consumption of honey in the countries of EU amounts to average of 1 kg per capita, whereas in Serbia the honey consumption amounts to only 0.25 kg. Average production per beehive ranges from 12 to 15 kilograms.

Over 180 beekeepers, members of collective "Jasenica" (founded in 1972), will be able to expand and improve the production of honey after this donation.
