Company "Meler" to put its new factory in Sremska Mitrovica into operation on June 23, 2006

One of the biggest manufacturers of electric equipment "Meler" will open the factory in Sremska Mitrovica on June 23, 2006, which will be employing 300 people in the first phase and more than 1,000 workers in the second phase, i.e. within the following two years.

The deputy of director general of "Meler" in Serbia, Kurt Lakner, stated that some other cities had been shortlisted for the location of construction of that factory, such as Inđija and Zrenjanin, but Mitrovica had been chosen because of its "excellent geographic position, exceptional traffic infrastructure and it is in the vicinity of Belgrade".

- The key role has been played by the local self-management, because it provided us all the help we needed. Thus, we have recognized the favorable business climate in this region and it will help us develop and bring benefit to both us and the citizens of Sremska Mitrovica – Lakner pointed out.
