The English-Slovenian company AHA Group wants to buy only production facilities of Pirot-based Prvi Maj, without its dealer network.
According to the words of Veljko Krstic, the capital representative of the Pirot-based textile factory, talks with the representatives of AHA Group have already started.
- It is a serious company that has privatized Mura in Slovenia. They have already sent a letter of intent. This company is interested in buying only production facilities, without the dealer network. There is a plan by which the state would grant an incentive for each worker kept - says Krstic.
If this idea comes to life, the buyer will be obligated to invest EUR 5 million in Prvi Maj in Pirot.
According to another scenario, the state itself would invest in the technological modernization of the factory, thus increasing its value.
Since the termination of the privatization agreement 22 months ago, this company has been undergoing restructuring.
The situation in Prvi Maj is now better than it was before the termination of the sales agreement, says Veljko Krstic.
- At the moment when the privatization agreement was terminated, the factory had 300 workers. Today, excluding the dealer network, Prvi Maj employs 1,328 people. It is a factory with a long tradition, and I think it has a good future - Krstic notes.
Prvi Maj, one of the largest textile factories in ex Yugoslavia, has recently celebrated its 54th anniversary of operations.
