From Sun to Internet - Nis gets Eko Park with solar charger for laptop

On Thursday (3 May 2012), the city of Nis obtained Eko Park - the first park featuring solar panels enabling visitors to charge the battery of their laptop and have free access to Internet. It is situated in the city park Cair, in the vicinity of the namesake sports arena.

Eko Park is a student project whose authors, the EkoNekt team consisting of the students of the Nis Faculty of Electronics, have been awarded a scholarship by Philip Morris.

This project is implemented under the Partnership for Education and Community Development (PECD) program, under the patronage of Philip Morris. The Eko Park project has also been supported by the borough of Medijana, which provided the architectural design and park furniture, and by Cair Sports Center.

An eco-tree with solar panels is situated in the center of Eko Park (Eco Park), collecting and converting solar energy into electricity. This eco-tree, along with the use of energy-saving bulbs, makes Eko Park a practical demonstrator of the usability and good sides of the use of renewable energy sources.
