ENGEL’s investment aims to strengthen the European supply chain, increase production flexibility, and contribute to shorter delivery times for customers in Europe and the Americas.
The Austrian company ENGEL continues to develop its global production network by opening a new facility in Kikinda.
In the first phase, the 13,000-square-meter production facility will be dedicated to the manufacture of machined components, with plans to employ approximately 150 people over the first three years.
The new location is part of the planned development of ENGEL’s European production architecture.
The goal is to distribute specific mechanical manufacturing processes across various European locations, enabling the company to leverage their respective advantages more effectively and build a more resilient regional supply chain.
For customers, particularly in European and American markets, this expansion of the production network is expected to result in shorter delivery times, greater flexibility, and more reliable component supplies.
At the same time, it reduces dependence on long transport routes and the risks associated with international logistics disruptions.
Kikinda as part of ENGEL’s European production network
Kikinda was selected due to the availability of a skilled workforce and the industrial infrastructure that has been developing in this part of Serbia for decades. These prerequisites enable the efficient integration of the new site into the ENGEL Group’s existing European production network.
ENGEL employees from Austria will be involved in training the new local team.
This approach ensures the transfer of expertise and guarantees the application of the uniform quality standards observed at all the company’s production facilities.
– The new site in Kikinda complements our existing plants across Europe. It enhances our efficiency and offers greater flexibility compared to direct sourcing from Asia. Our Austrian plants will gain more capacity to focus on what we do best - highly complex, customer-specific system solutions that are in demand worldwide – said Stefan Engleder, CEO of the ENGEL Group.

Additional capacity for complex system solutions
Launching production in Kikinda will not replace ENGEL’s existing plants but will complement them.
By redistributing specific mechanical manufacturing operations, the facilities in Austria will gain additional capacity for the development and production of complex systems tailored to specific customer requirements.
This model enables the company to simultaneously improve the cost-efficiency of standardized production processes while maintaining a strong focus on development and technology at its existing centers.
ENGEL is a family-owned company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of injection molding machines and integrated production systems.
The company’s portfolio includes electric, hydraulic, and hybrid machines, robotic automation, digital solutions, process technologies, training, and after-sales support.
Peter Jungwirth to head ENGEL Serbia
Peter Jungwirth will assume the role of Managing Director of ENGEL Serbia, while retaining his current position as Commercial Director of ENGEL’s production plant in Kaplice, Czech Republic.
His experience within the European production network is expected to contribute to establishing processes in Kikinda and integrating the new site with other ENGEL Group plants.

Significance of the investment for the local industry
The opening of the new ENGEL plant in Kikinda confirms Serbia’s industrial potential, the quality of its available skilled workforce, and the ability of the local economy to integrate into demanding European production chains.
In addition to the approximately 150 jobs planned over the first three years, the new location will bring modern production processes, international quality standards, and a systematic transfer of expertise.
It is particularly significant that experienced experts from the Austrian company ENGEL will participate in training the local team and developing its technical competencies.
– ENGEL’s decision to open a new production site in Serbia represents a major vote of confidence in our domestic industry, skilled workforce, and the country’s potential. As a long-standing partner of ENGEL, we are especially proud that Kikinda will become part of its European production network.
This investment brings new jobs and knowledge transfer, while also forging a long-term link between Serbia and one of the most technologically advanced companies in the plastics processing industry.
For our customers in Serbia and the region, a stronger European production network means even more reliable supply, shorter delivery times, and enhanced support in executing their production projects – stated Zoran Tadic, CEO of Neofyton.

Integrating Kikinda into ENGEL’s European production network further strengthens Serbia’s position as a competitive industrial location and creates opportunities for the development of skilled personnel, local suppliers, and the broader manufacturing ecosystem.
