Construction of biogas power plant starts in Bac - Slovakia's Enesco invests EUR 15 million

Accompanied by Bac Mayor Tomislav Bogunovic and representatives of Slovakia's Enesco Vojvodina Prime Minister Dr. Bojan Pajtic marked the commencement of work on the construction of a biogas power plant in the Industrial Zone in Bac by hammering the foundation stone three times, which is a Slovakian tradition. This significant event was also attended by Ambassador of Slovakia to Serbia Jan Varscho, it was announced on the Vojvodina government's website.

This thermal power plant, worth a total of EUR 15 million, will have the capacity of about 4 MW. Pajtic reminded that it was the second investment in the power generation from renewable sources in that week.

- There are more and more power plants in Vojvodina that use what seems to be our treasure and used to be treated as a waste left over after the harvest and agricultural production. This project is harmonized with the highest environmental standards and is going to employ 25 people directly and another 100 indirectly. However, what is very important is that treasures and fruits of this land are not going to be thrown away any more, but used, and what is even more important is that investors announce implementation of similar project all around Vojvodina - said Pajtic.

As Bac Mayor Tomislav Bogunovic and the investors in this project pointed out, this environment-friendly power plant will be using 100% natural biological materials as raw materials.

A major portion of electric energy generated by this power plant, which is expected to be completed in late May 2013, will be supplied to citizens and local companies and used for various services related to the generation of electricity and heat.

This project is so far the biggest investment in the region by an investor from Slovakia in the field of renewable energy sources.
