ECOMONDO – The showcase for the green transition

From 3 to 6 November, IEG’s international event brings together at Rimini Expo Centre the technologies, companies and key players driving the transition towards an increasingly circular economy

From 3 to 6 November, Ecomondo returns to Rimini Expo Centre, the international event organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) on the green, blue and circular economy. Now in its 29th edition, the event confirms its position as The Global Stage for the Circular Economy and represents one of Europe’s key reference points for fostering new industrial partnerships and accelerating the adoption of the best solutions available on the market.

The heart of the event is Waste as Resource, which provides a comprehensive overview of technologies dedicated to the collection, sorting, treatment and valorisation of waste, from mechanical recycling solutions to emerging technologies, including automation, artificial intelligence, robotics and digital systems for material traceability. The sector brings together companies and operators committed to improving the quality of secondary raw materials and increasing the efficiency of industrial processes. However, Ecomondo’s vision goes beyond recycling, offering an integrated approach to the main circular economy value chains. Water Cycle & Blue Economy (with the Blue Economy and Trenchless districts) is dedicated to technologies for the sustainable management of the entire water cycle, with solutions for treatment, purification, reuse, network digitalisation and water resilience. Particular attention is also given to textiles in the new Textile sector, which makes its debut with an entire pavilion. The exhibition is completed by spaces dedicated to bioenergy, the bioeconomy, remediation technologies and the management of contaminated sites and environmental monitoring. The Circular&Healthy City district will focus on healthy and circular cities, while the Innovation District will once again host start-ups and innovative SMEs, as well as the initiative dedicated to green jobs. There will also be a specific focus on the life cycle of paper.

THE INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION

The extensive conference programme, developed by Ecomondo’s international Technical Scientific Committee, will provide an opportunity to discuss and explore the main European regulatory dossiers set to shape the future of the circular economy, such as the Circular Economy Act, the Bioeconomy Strategy, the Biotech Act II, the Pact for the Mediterranean, the RESourceEU Action Plan, the Critical Raw Materials Act and the new provisions on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Other central topics, as part of a continued focus on international cooperation and the strengthening of partnerships with the Mediterranean and Africa, will include healthy and circular cities, artificial intelligence and new digital technologies supporting the green transition, as well as the bioeconomy and bioenergy.

Ecomondo’s international outlook is further strengthened by the presence of an increasing number of specialist communities active in the green transition sectors and by a growing number of buyers, delegations and associations from every continent, thanks to collaboration with MAECI – the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – and ICE – the Agency for the Promotion Abroad and Internationalisation of Italian Companies.
