Aisha Williams new World Bank Group Country Manager for Serbia

Aisha Williams has been appointed as the World Bank Group’s Country Manager for Serbia, the institution announced.

As noted in the statement, this position now consolidates World Bank Group leadership at the country level, covering the public sector arm: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), as well as private sector institutions: the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).


– Ms. Williams will oversee the World Bank Group’s program and activities in the country and collaborate with public and private sector partners, as well as other stakeholders, to expand the Group’s efforts to support Serbia in creating quality jobs and transitioning to a high-income economy – the statement reads.

Prior to this appointment, Aisha Williams held several leadership positions; most recently, she served as Global Director for Infrastructure Finance at the IBRD. Before that, she was Director for Blended Concessional Finance at the IFC and IFC Manager for Turkey.

Williams holds a Master of Science degree in Development Economics from the University of Oxford, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University), and an undergraduate degree from Princeton.
