Government cuts fuel excise taxes again

The Government of Serbia has decided to temporarily reduce excise taxes on certain petroleum products, effective from September 14 to 20, 2026.

The decision was made due to rising producer prices for petroleum products, driven by the increase in crude oil prices on the global market.

Under the new decision, the excise tax on unleaded gasoline will be 54 dinars per liter, while the excise tax on gas oils - specifically diesel - will be 55.53 dinars per liter. The excise tax on leaded gasoline has been set at 57.41 dinars per liter.

Compared to the previously reduced rates, the excise tax on unleaded gasoline has been further lowered by 3.60 dinars per liter, while the excise tax on diesel has been reduced by 3.70 dinars per liter.

The temporarily reduced excise rates will apply through September 20; the entry into force of the new decision renders the previous decision on the temporary reduction of excise taxes on petroleum products void.

The government also extended the measure for the temporary reduction of fuel excise taxes earlier this year.
