Serbia and Uzbekistan sign Memorandum of Understanding in field of innovation

The Innovation Fund of Serbia announced yesterday that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IT Park of Uzbekistan in Belgrade, establishing a framework for connecting the innovation ecosystems of the two countries.

As stated, the signing of the Memorandum contributes to the broader efforts of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation to encourage the development of the domestic innovation ecosystem through international partnerships and open up new opportunities for innovative companies from Serbia to enter the global market.

The Memorandum was signed by the Director of the Innovation Fund, Sasa Lazovic, and the Advisor to the General Director of IT Park Uzbekistan, Abdulakhad Kuchkarov.

During the visit to the Fund, the IT Park Uzbekistan delegation was presented with the Fund’s programs and the results achieved by Serbia in supporting innovation and developing the innovation ecosystem.

Representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan spoke about their work model and experiences in supporting the IT sector and technological entrepreneurship.

The cooperation will, as stated, be focused on supporting the development and internationalization of startups, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and technology companies from Serbia and Uzbekistan.

It was pointed out that the Memorandum opened up the possibility for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices in the development of the venture capital market and investment environment, as well as for cooperation in international programs and projects.

Joint activities may include events, workshops, study visits and institutional exchanges.

Director of the Innovation Fund Sasa Lazovic said that it was now not enough to develop innovations only within the national framework.

– It is necessary to connect knowledge, institutions and companies and create partnerships that can bring concrete results. I expect that the cooperation with IT Park Uzbekistan will open up space for new joint initiatives between Serbia and Uzbekistan – said Lazovic.

It is reminded that the Innovation Fund supports innovative companies in Serbia from the development of the first prototype to growth, attracting investments and expansion into new markets.

It is added that IT Park Uzbekistan plays an important role in the development of Uzbekistan’s IT sector and startup ecosystem through infrastructure, support programs, and connecting technology companies with partners and markets around the world.
