Veterinary Administration: Serbia given green light to export animals and animal products to EU

According to the new European Union rules on the use of antimicrobial drugs, Serbia can continue to export live animals, meat and other animal products to the EU market without hindrance, the Veterinary Administration of the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced.

In June, Serbia was included in the list of countries that meet the new European Union requirements on the use of antimicrobial drugs, in accordance with the EU Regulation.

This confirms that the domestic system for the control of veterinary drugs, animal health protection and food safety has been recognized as being in line with EU requirements.

The aim of the new European rules is to combat antimicrobial resistance, i.e. the phenomenon of bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics over time.

This problem is one of the biggest challenges in the field of public health, which is why the EU is introducing stricter regulations.
