EPCG strengthening cooperation with French energy companies – New projects in focus in Montenegro

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) is intensifying cooperation with French energy companies, with the aim of developing new projects in the field of renewable energy sources and accelerating the investment cycle.

EPCG General Director Zdravko Dragas, together with the Executive Director of the Development and Investments Directorate, Ivan Mrvaljevic, and the Executive Director of the Energy Management Directorate, Luka Prodanovic, held meetings in Paris with representatives of leading French energy companies, including Akuo and Qair.

The talks focused on concretizing previously signed memoranda of understanding, intensifying cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and developing new energy projects in Montenegro.

The companies Akuo and Qair are already present on the Montenegrin market through the development of projects in the field of renewable energy, which is the basis for further deepening cooperation and the implementation of new investments.

Special attention during the meetings was paid to identifying projects of common interest, as well as models of cooperation that would enable more efficient implementation of future investments and the application of modern energy technologies.

The discussions were also held within the framework of the intergovernmental cooperation between Montenegro and France, which relies on the Agreement on Cooperation between the two governments (G2G). This framework envisages the improvement of the development of joint investment projects and additionally encourages the connection of institutions and companies of the two countries.

– The signed memoranda represent a good basis, but our goal is to define specific projects and models of their implementation through a more intensive dialogue. Cooperation with companies that have significant international experience, and that are already developing projects in Montenegro, can further accelerate the investment cycle of EPCG and contribute to the energy transition of Montenegro – said Dragas.

It was agreed that EPCG and French partners will continue intensive communication at the professional and business level, in order to translate potential areas of cooperation into concrete project activities.

The visit to Paris is part of EPCG’s activities aimed at strengthening international partnerships, exchanging knowledge and experience, and creating conditions for new investments. The activities are also related to participation in the Paris Session 2026, and the goal is to contribute to the long-term development and stability of the Montenegrin power system, the statement concludes.
