Where is the world and where is Serbia when it comes to renewable energy, how is the electricity market changing and what new investments, technologies and regulations bring to the region - these are some of the key topics of the sixth RES SERBIA 2026 conference, which will gather more than 500 representatives of the energy sector of Serbia and the region in Vrdnik on September 15-16.
One of the most important regional gatherings dedicated to renewable energy sources will be held in the Vrdnicka Kula ethno complex, and will bring together representatives of key domestic, European and regional institutions, investors and companies.
The conference will be officially opened by the Managing Director for South-East Europe of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Grzegorz Zielinski, the CEO of Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, as well as local and European officials.
The conference participants will include the General Director of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Dusan Zivkovic, representatives of the Energy Community Secretariat, the European Investment Bank, Solar Power Europe, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore and Elektrodistribucija Srbije. The conference will also bring together numerous investors, energy equipment manufacturers, representatives of banks, consulting and law firms and other stakeholders involved in the development of the renewable energy market.
Current issues of the energy transition of Serbia and the region
The focus will be on issues that are currently shaping the energy transition of Serbia and the region. The topics will include the development of wind energy, the construction of green infrastructure, the problems of obtaining permits and the selective application of positive legal regulations, the role of battery systems for energy storage, but also new models of financing projects from renewable sources.
There will also be discussions about changes in the electricity market, the impact of CBAM regulations on energy and the economy, as well as innovative technologies that can accelerate decarbonization. Marcel Duits, President of the International Association for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, is coming to Serbia for the first time, and a special CBAM educational workshop will be organized during the conference.
Representatives of Air Serbia will speak about the future of sustainable transport in a new format of the conference program, a 1-on-1 conversation.
RES SERBIA 2026 will be an opportunity to meet in one place key decision-makers, investors, financiers and companies that shape the future of the energy sector and to see where Serbia is today on the path of energy transition through open discussions.
The organizer of the conference is the Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Serbia, which brings together relevant companies and institutions active in the renewable energy sector in Serbia, and a media sponsor of the event is eKapija.
