In a block transaction on the Macedonian Stock Exchange, 60,000 shares were purchased at a price of MKD 1,748.03. The total value of the transaction amounted to 104,881,800 denars, or approximately EUR 1.7 million.
After the takeover, the company changed its name to Alta osiguranje AD Skoplje. After completing the necessary regulatory procedures, the company will offer non-life insurance for cars, property, households, travel and business companies.
ZOIL Makedonija was founded in October 2023. With this acquisition, Alta Group connects banking, payment, leasing and insurance services into a single system in North Macedonia.
This is not the first major investment of this company in the Macedonian market. Alta Bank Belgrade previously took over a majority stake in Stopanska banka AD Bitola, which now operates under the name Alta banka AD Bitola. According to the Macedonian Stock Exchange data, Alta Bank Belgrade increased its ownership stake to more than 95% in early 2026, the Macedonian Stock Exchange said.
Alta Group is also preparing to enter the markets of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. As part of the agreement with Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International, Alta is expected to take over Addiko Bank in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, as well as Addiko Bank’s operations in Serbia and Montenegro.
