The German company Draxlmaier, which operates in Zrenjanin, has announced that the planned layoff program for 359 employees, who agreed to leave the company by the end of July 2026, will be suspended. The company is assessing future business for Serbia in the e-mobility sector.

– We see greater demand in the e-mobility sector, due to rising fuel costs and new subsidy schemes in various European countries – said the head of operations for Eastern Europe, Guido Meinelt.

He expressed hope that they would provide new jobs in Serbia and that they would make that decision in the coming weeks. Vice President of Global Human Resources Tobias Afsali said that the company had dedicated and loyal employees in Serbia and that they had always promised to look for new opportunities in Zrenjanin.

– We are happy that new projects are in the final decision phase – said Afsali.

According to the statement, the company Draxlmaier is in close contact with the state authorities to find a quick and sustainable solution for the factory in Zrenjanin, and photos from those meetings were also published on social media by Serbian Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic.

The company for the production of cable sets for the automotive industry Draxlmaier confirmed at the end of last year that it had to gradually close its factory in Zrenjanin and that it had to end all activities there by 2026 due to the decline in production volumes in the European automotive industry and because the company had not received orders. The company’s regional representative Ralf Capelle said at the time that the company was aware of its responsibility towards its employees, to whom it would offer an appropriate social package.
