Stevanovic said that the project also included the construction of a demanding bridge worth around BAM 11 million, which would be connected to the Foca-Scepan Polje road.
He reminded that the implementation of the project had been slowed down by unresolved property and legal issues and the discovery of stecak-type medieval tombstones on the route, but that most of these obstacles had been removed in the meantime.
– The first six kilometers of the route are ready for unhindered execution of works, while property and legal issues are being intensively resolved for the remaining part so that the contractor can begin work at full capacity as soon as possible – said Stevanovic.
Speaking about the bridge on the Bistrica, the minister reminded that its closure had been necessary for traffic safety, after serious damage caused by a landslide had been determined.
He announced that the project documentation for the alternative road via Kalinovik would be completed by the end of the year, while the bridge on the Bistrica would be repaired at the same time so that this road route would have a safe alternative traffic connection in the future.
Stevanovic added that the start of the implementation of the project to build a bridge on the Tara River was also expected, as well as the initiation of the procedure for selecting a contractor for the construction of the new Foca–Scepan Polje road route, 13.4 kilometers long.
