Lake in Kacarevo near Pancevo jewel of Banat plain – Enjoying the shade of pine trees and the beauty of geysers

It’s summer and people are looking for more space at picnic areas and swimming pools. The residents of Kacarevo, near Pancevo, have created a green oasis and a corner where they can refresh themselves when the temperatures are this high.

Now, residents from surrounding towns and cities are also visiting them.

An oasis created in a neglected area

Eighteen years ago, the residents of Kacarevo created an artificial lake on a neglected site that looked like an illegal landfill, which now covers 4,000 square meters.

It is filled with water from artesian wells, which are 100 meters deep. As of this year, they have two attractive geysers, which contribute to its even more beautiful appearance.

There are guests throughout the week, and mostly on weekends, and admission is free, which is another advantage.

– This is my second time at the lake, I came from Belgrade with my grandparents – says one visitor.

Another one adds that they come because the lake is wonderful, the water is good, clean and not polluted.

– I’m here every day and I like the diving board the most – says one of the regular visitors to the lake.

1,000 trees planted around the lake

10,000 trees have been planted around the lake and visitors can now enjoy the beautiful shade of pines, acacias and elms.

– All this makes this place a natural oasis for enjoyment, rest and escape to nature from the tropical heat. This means a lot to the people of Kacarevo, but also to the people of Belgrade, Pancevo and the residents of other surrounding places – says Branko Bokun from the Kacarevo Local Community.

The people of Kacarevo always emphasize that with the help of the city, but above all thanks to their unity, they managed to create a place that everyone is now proud of.

– Kacarevo is a specific place of colonized people from the former Yugoslavia, but unity and togetherness come first here. Together, we have managed to turn a landfill into such a magnificent space – emphasizes Bokun.

Professional lifeguards take care of the safety of swimmers on the lake, and the Institute of Public Health from Pancevo, which takes samples twice a month, ensures the water is safe.
