New Tender for Continuation of Works on Svrackovo Dam Expected at End of Year

Construction of the Svrackovo Dam, one of the largest water management projects in Serbia, is proceeding according to the planned schedule, and implementation of the project is not in question, public water management company Srbijavode announced.

According to the company, all contracted works are being carried out under daily supervision by the investor, professional supervision team and competent state institutions, while compliance with the main contractor's contractual obligations and the pace of project implementation are being monitored in parallel.

The statement emphasizes that, at the request of the main contractor and with the investor's approval, subcontractors have been engaged for certain specialized works, primarily the construction of the raw water pipeline. According to the statement, this is an implementation model envisaged by the contract and does not change the status of the main contractor, which remains fully responsible for fulfilling all contractual obligations.

Srbijavode confirmed that it is aware of the business circumstances affecting the main contractor, but emphasized that the contractor is currently continuing to fulfill its obligations, while the investor and professional supervision team are monitoring the works on site.

Should the contractor fail to fulfill its contractual obligations or the implementation of the project be jeopardized, the investor will, according to the statement, apply all mechanisms provided for by the contract and the law in order to protect the interests of the Republic of Serbia and ensure the continuation of construction.

Given that the current contract expires at the end of this year, Srbijavode's professional services are already preparing an analysis of the completed works and the current status of the project, which will serve as the basis for launching a new public procurement procedure in accordance with the Public Procurement Law.

Srbijavode recalled that, due to the strategic importance of the project, a working group has been established within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management to monitor the progress of works on a daily basis, analyze potential challenges and propose measures to overcome them.
