EPS: First rotor excavator for Radlјevo mine installed in Kolubara Mining Basin

Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) announced today that the installation of a 35-meter-high rotor excavator had been completed, which would head to the new Radljevo mine in the Kolubara Mining Basin the next week.

As stated, the excavator weighs 1,655 tons, has a capacity of 3,150 cubic meters of overburden per hour and is part of EPS’s major investment in four new mining systems for the new Kolubara mines Radljevo and Field “E”.

– The largest assembly of mining machines, worth around 450 million euros, is underway at two assembly sites, which will ensure greater production of overburden and coal in the coming years in the Kolubara Mining Basin, said EPS General Director Dusan Zivkovic – EPS announced.

During a tour of the assembly site in Kalenic, he assessed that that it was crucial that all contractors remained maximally dedicated and that deadlines were met so that those complex mining machines were ready to work according to plan.

It is stated that intensive work is also being done on another rotary excavator at the same location, equipment testing is underway and it should join the dumper in the fall, which is already operating at the youngest mine, and together they will increase the overburden production capacity and accelerate the start of coal production. Assistant Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia Ivan Jankovic emphasized that it was very important to accelerate the dynamics of equipment assembly and testing.

– The safety of coal and electricity production in thermal capacities is one of the priorities and conditions for ensuring the energy security of the country, and therefore the work on the assembly of equipment for Radlјevo and Field E is currently the most important in the mining sector – said Jankovic. Zivkovic and Jankovic also visited the assembly site in Vreoci, where mining machines for two excavator-transporter-dumper systems are being assembled system that will work on Field “E”.
