The construction of the factory of Malbex Carbon, a joint Serbian-Chinese enterprise that will produce graphite electrodes for the steel and metal industry, has been completed in Merosina.

Around EUR 2 million was invested in the construction of the facility, which covers an area of around 1,200 m2, and the start of production is planned for September 1.

According to the investor, this is the first factory in Serbia that will produce graphite electrodes for the needs of the metallurgy industry.

In the first phase, it is planned to employ more than 30 workers, while during a tour of the factory it was stated that by the end of the year the number of employees could reach 54.

The factory was visited by the Minister of Family Care and Demography Jelena Zaric Kovacevic and representatives of the local government. The owner of Malbex Carbon, Milan Bjelic, thanked the municipality of Merosina for its support during the implementation of the investment, especially in the process of obtaining the necessary permits and approvals.

The official opening of the factory is expected after the completion of preparations and the arrival of the Chinese partners.
