The Serbian Ministry of Finance has redirected 1,174,000,000 dinars (about EUR 9.95 million) from the current budget reserves for the construction of the Raca-Bijeljina highway.

As stated in the decision, this is a grant for the continuation of the construction of this highway, and by decision of the Serbian Government, the Ministry of Finance is transferring it to the General Secretariat of the Government.

Let us remind that this is a highway that will stretch from Kuzmin to Sremska Raca on the section through Serbia. As announced by the PE Roads of Serbia in the spring, the Kuzmin–Sremska Raca highway, with a new bridge over the Sava, is in its final phase, and as Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has emphasized in the meantime, everything is expected to be completed by October.

The start of the road is planned near the existing grade-separated Kuzmin intersection on the Belgrade-Zagreb highway and leads all the way to the existing border crossing at Sremska Raca. This section, with a total length of about 18 km, with a bridge over the Sava River, is part of the construction project for the E-761 Belgrade-Sarajevo highway. The route is designed as a classic highway profile, with two carriageways, each with two driving lanes and one emergency lane, separated by a median strip. The designed speed is up to 130 km/h. Let us remind that, according to announcements from December last year, the Kuzmin-Raca highway should be opened to traffic by the middle of this year. Before this, during the summer of last year, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure announced that the Sremska Raca-Kuzmin highway section would be physically completed by the end of 2025. By the way, since officials officially marked the start of work on the future Kuzmin-Sremska Raca highway, the announcements about the end of work on this small section through the plain have been postponed several times.

When it comes to the construction of the Bijeljina-Raca section, about 20 kilometers long, in early June it was indicated that it was proceeding at full speed. The Bijeljina-Raca section represents Lot 3 within the Vukosavlje-Brcko-Bijeljina-Raca highway project, with a total length of about 70 kilometers. With the completion of this traffic route, Bosnia and Herzegovina will gain a modern connection with Serbia, but also a better connection with Corridor 5C and the rest of the highway network.
