Share of problematic loans in Serbia at 19.2% in 2011

The share of loans overdue for more than 90 days amounted to 19.2 percent at the end of 2011, which is one of the highest rates in the region, it was stated Monday at a session of the Banking and Insurance Committee of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Pointing to a continuous growth of problematic loans, Committee President Vladimir Cupic said that their share had amounted to 11.3 percent at the end of 2008, 15.7 percent at the end of 2009 and 16.9 percent at the end of 2010, Tanjug reports.
- Such a high percentage of problematic loans affects the quality of banks' assets, results of the banking sector and the prices of banking products and services - Cupic said.
