NBS, Government sign Memorandum on Dinarization Strategy

The National Bank of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia have signed a Memorandum on Dinarisation Strategy. The strategy aims to promote the use of the dinar and, thus, provide additional support to the country’s financial and macroeconomic stability, the NBS announced on its website.

The Memorandum defines objectives, measures and actions to be taken in order to strengthen confidence in the national currency and bolster its use in the financial system.

The NBS and the Government have recognized the need to increase the use of the dinar in the financial system that, in addition to contributing to financial stability, will lessen the risk of currency changes, reinforce the efficiency of monetary policy and, by extension, help foster the preconditions for a strong and sustainable economic growth.
