As announced by the Government of the Tuzla Canton, the funds will be implemented through the air traffic subsidy program, with the aim of continuing to support the development of air traffic and strengthening the competitiveness of the Tuzla Airport.
– With this decision, the Government of the Tuzla Canton continues the implementation of its strategic commitment to support the development of air traffic beyond the 2025 budget year, recognizing the importance of the Tuzla International Airport for the economy, tourism and connecting citizens with European destinations – the decision states in the explanation.
According to the adopted guidelines, the Tourist Board of the Tuzla Canton will be obliged to submit monthly reports on the implementation of the program to the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Transport within five days of receiving the report of the Public Enterprise Tuzla International Airport, and no later than the 15th day of the month for the previous month.
The support comes at a time when Tuzla International Airport is recording a significant recovery in business and expansion of its flight network.
After the return of a larger number of routes and the stationing of the second base aircraft of the airline Wizz Air, passengers are currently able to access numerous European destinations.
Among them are Basel, Dortmund, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Memmingen, Malmo, Gothenburg, Bratislava, Maastricht, Frankfurt-Hahn and Paris-Beauvais.
The Government of the Tuzla Canton emphasizes that the development of air traffic is already bringing concrete results through the growth in the number of passengers, while the airport management and the relevant ministry are simultaneously holding talks with new airlines about the possible establishment of additional routes.
– Subsidizing air traffic is one of the key mechanisms by which the Tuzla Canton seeks to retain existing and attract new air carriers. This not only strengthens the canton’s international connectivity, but also creates the conditions for increasing tourist visits, facilitating the arrival of the diaspora, and improving business and investment ties with European markets – the Government of the Tuzla Canton said.
They added that, with the continuous growth in the number of destinations and passengers, it was expected that the approved funds would further contribute to the stable development of the Tuzla International Airport and its stronger positioning on the regional aviation map of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
